The Ministerial Council for National Security confirmed, today, Wednesday, that talk about using Iraqi territory as a starting point for carrying out false pretext attacks, while stressing that Iraq's supreme interests necessitate working to keep its territory and airspace away from the war.
The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Special Forces Yahya Rasool Abdullah, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammad Shia al-Sudani, chaired, today, Wednesday, the periodic meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security," indicating that "during it, the overall security situation in the country was discussed, the topics on the agenda were considered, and the necessary decisions and recommendations were made regarding them."
He added, "The meeting witnessed the discussion of the government program, regarding the security file, and the review of the achievements of all ministries and security departments, after two years of the government's term, and ways to enhance strengths and address challenges immediately, while continuing the process of following up on security and intelligence work within the framework of unifying efforts in this regard, in order to achieve the set goals."
"The Council renewed Iraq's firm position in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, and condemning the crimes of genocide committed by the Zionist entity against them," noting that "the news circulated about using Iraqi lands as a starting point for carrying out attacks or responses to attacks are nothing but false pretexts and justifications intended to be a justification for attacking Iraq, its sovereignty and the sanctity of its lands."
The Council stressed according to the statement "that Iraq's supreme interests necessitate working to keep its lands and airspace away from the war that the Zionist entity is trying to expand, based on its aggressive policies against the countries and peoples of the region."
