Al-Sudani Directs the Completion of Major Service Projects in Diyala within the Set Timelines

    Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency-INA that Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani conducted a field visit today, Wednesday, to monitor the progress of two major service projects: the complementary works of the Al-Khalis Sewerage Project and the second phase of the West Baqubah Sewerage Project in Diyala.

    The statement read "During his visit to the project sites, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of adhering to the set timelines for the completion of these critical service projects, particularly those with advanced progress, such as Al-Khalis Sewerage Project. He highlighted the strategic significance of these projects for the serviced areas and noted that their completion would pave the way for new service initiatives in neighborhoods where sewerage systems are finalized."

    It also said "The Prime Minister met with the engineers and workers at the site and reviewed the spending rates in comparison to the project progress, commending their efforts. He emphasized that these projects are among the government’s top priorities in its program."

    The statement further said "Al-Khalis Sewerage Project has reached 90% completion and is one of the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities' investment projects. It has a design capacity of 22,000 m³/day and includes a main treatment plant, seven sewage lifting stations, six rainwater pumping stations, and a sewerage network stretching 113 kilometers, serving 90,000 residents in the district center."

    The West Baqubah Sewerage Project, in its second phase, has achieved 47% completion. Also under the Ministry of Construction and Housing's investment projects, it includes a main treatment plant, six sewage lifting stations, three rainwater pumping stations, and a sewerage network spanning 270 kilometers, with a capacity of 56,000 m³/day. It will serve 300,000 residents in the western areas of Baqubah.
