DGIS detains 4 on drug trafficking and kidnapping charges

    The General Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DGIS) declared on Wednesday that four people had been arrested in separate governorates on drug trafficking and kidnapping charges.  

    "Under the guidance and supervision of Minister of Defense, Thabet Al-Abbasi, within the continuation of the implementation of qualitative operations of DGIS at the Ministry of Defense, and with a high-level intelligence effort, the field directorate's detachments were able to arrest (3) dealers and promoters of narcotic substances red handed in the provinces of Baghdad and Nineveh, and one accused of kidnapping in Diwaniyah, against whom judicial warrants were issued in accordance with the provisions of articles (28 drugs, 421 kidnapping)," the Directorate said in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).


    The directorate declared, "Legal measures were taken against them and they were handed over to the competent authorities."
