The Iraqi Football Association announced, today, Friday, the addition of players to the national team list to face Palestine and South Korea in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The Football Association stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the national team coach, Jesus Casas, added the players Hassan Raed and Amin Al-Hamwi (Swedish Sandviken) to the final list called up for the matches against Palestine and South Korea in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup."
The statement indicated that "it has become almost certain that Ipswich Town's English professional Ali Al-Hammadi and Hammarby's Swedish professional Muntadher Majed will be absent from the matches against Palestine and South Korea due to injury, after the arrival of the medical report from the first club, which confirmed the player's need for a period of rest due to his continued treatment for an injury he suffered.".
He continued, "The international break will be an opportunity for rehabilitation in the hope that he will be present and ready next month, while the second player suffers from a minor injury that will not make him fully ready for the upcoming national event."
