INA - BAGHDAD
The Iraqi Federation of Kyokushin Kai and Martial Arts will hold the Iraqi Junior Championship tomorrow, Friday, at the Al-Adhamiyah Sports Club for two days.
"The Iraqi Junior Championship is the second championship according to the current year's curriculum and is a refresher championship for the junior category 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009. The championship will be in participation of approximately 650 players from various Iraqi governorates," said the head of the Federation, Ammar Adnan Woheib, to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
Woheib explained that "the base of the game has many talented players who deserve the opportunity to participate in these events, but this category has fallen victim to the lack of funds. We hope during the coming period to allocate funds for these age groups that include real champions who meet the international champion project sought by the Ministry of Youth and the Olympic Committee."
"The federation seeks to conclude the local championships to devote itself to preparing for the Arab Championship, which is expected to be held in the capital, Baghdad, on December 4th and will last for a week," he noted.
He stated, "Through the Iraqi News Agency, I appeal to PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani to support this championship and host Arab brothers, especially since Baghdad hosts the headquarters of the Asian Federation presidency. It plays a leading role on the continental level for the largest federations and sports fan base after football."
