PM Adel Abdul Mahdi received the US secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday.
Both have discussed the mutual relations between the two countries in terms of counter-terrorism and fighting Daesh terrorist groups.
The two also made talks regarding mutual cooperation in terms of energy, power and economy.
“Iraq is a democratic country that is keen on the stability of the region and the good relations with the Arab states and the neighbouring countries.
During this meeting, they have discussed the US withdrawal from Syria where Pompeo explained that the US is gradually withdrawing the forces in an organized way and in cooperation with Iraq.
Pompeo asserted US support to Iraq and the efforts to maintain security and economy.
