The head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq, Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, called on government institutions today, Sunday, to hold a national partnership conference for literacy illiteracy, while indicating that the process requires great governmental and parliamentary efforts.
Sheikh Hamoudi said, according to the statement issued by his media office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Building the state begins with education, and the reform of society begins with building a righteous, educated family capable of raising an aware generation armed with knowledge and authentic values.
On International Literacy Day (September 8), these facts must be kept in mind when planning for comprehensive development, by formulating a wise vision for a national strategy to combat illiteracy, and activating the role of society in it, with its intellectual elites, its Husseini bodies, its rostrums, and its cultural and media institutions."
