Iraqi security detains individual on charges of stealing and kidnapping

The arrest of a suspect who committed kidnappings and robberies within the province was announced by the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency in Maysan province on Wednesday.

In a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Agency asserted that "the Agency's detachments carried out a qualitative operation that enabled them to arrest a suspect wanted in accordance with Article (421) of the Penal Code" through intelligence efforts and field follow-up.

"After being questioned, he openly admitted to committing multiple thefts, abductions, and immoral activities as a consequence of abductions in the province," it continued, adding that "he was referred to the competent investigative authorities to receive his just punishment."
