The Russian National Guard announced on Friday that it had freed employees held hostage by prisoners in a Volgograd prison and captured the perpetrators.
"Snipers of the special units of the Russian National Guard in the Volgograd region freed four prisoners who were holding prison employees hostage by targeting them with four accurate shots. The hostages were released," the National Guard said on its Telegram account.
"During a session of the disciplinary committee, prisoners took employees of the penal institution hostage," the prison service said in a statement. "Measures are currently being taken to free the hostages, and there are losses."
In this context, the Russian Investigative Committee confirmed the involvement of "several prisoners" in the incident.
