Algeria announced, today, Sunday, sending quantities of oil to Lebanon immediately to operate power plants and restore electricity in the country.

The Algerian government said in a statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): " Assigned by the President of the Republic, Prime Minister Nazir al-Arabi made a phone call today with the Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic Najib Mikati, during which they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of energy, especially in light of the repercussions of the comprehensive power outage yesterday evening in all parts of brotherly Lebanon, including basic facilities."

According to the statement "Prime Minister Nazir al-Arabi informed his Lebanese counterpart Najib Mikati of the decision issued by President of the Republic Abdelmajid Tebboune to urgently supply brotherly Lebanon with quantities of fuel in order to operate power plants and restore electricity in the country."
The "Electricité du Liban" announced yesterday, Saturday, that the supply of electricity to all Lebanese regions had stopped, after the Zahrani plant's fuel stock ran out.
