The Najaf Governorate Police Command announced today, Thursday, that the security plan for the Arbaeen Pilgrimage will begin to be implemented. They also indicated that eight roads will be set aside so that visitors can walk to the holy province of Karbala.
"The plan for the fortieth visit entered into force as of the first date of the month of Safar, and will be in several stages to keep pace with the momentum until the peak of the Pilgrimage," said Colonel Mufid Salem Mohamed, director of the Relations and Media Department at the Najaf Governorate Police Command, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Additionally, he stated that "all police leaders, including the Najaf Governorate Police Command, were directed by Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari to overcome obstacles in front of pilgrims."
"With the participation of the Popular Mobilization, border guard forces, the intelligence effort, and the supervisory authorities that will monitor the work and performance of the Ministry of Interior, radar cameras have been deployed on the roads leading to the holy city of Karbala, in addition to the deployment of all the forces and resources of the Ministry of Interior in Najaf province," Salem stated“.
"There will be coverage by the army aviation, in addition to relying on all the technical means that have been harnessed by the Ministry of Interior," he said.
He also added, "The security plan comes in conjunction with the holy shrines and the Iman Hussein’s Processions Authority, where coordination was made with them," noting that "the plan was preceded by security practices in the desert of Najaf, for the success of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage."
Salem pointed out that "8 special roads have been allocated for pilgrims to walk towards the holy province of Karbala, and the province has been divided into 10 security zones and 6 axes," calling on pilgrims to "cooperate with the security forces and walk the roads set by the Ministry of Interior and the provincial police command."
