CCCB declares its support for the actions taken by the government to safeguard component rights

    The Council of Christian Church leaders in Baghdad (CCCB) emphasized the value of the Christian presence and harmonious coexistence among all Iraqi people components in its announcement on Thursday that it supports the government's efforts to protect the rights of constituents.

    "The Council of leaders of Christian Communities met in Baghdad, in the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese, in the presence of members of the Council," according to a statement from the CCCB that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained.

     The statement noted the attendance of Rami Joseph Aghajan, Head of the Bureau of Endowments for Christian, Yezidi, and Sabian Mandaean Religions, and noted that "a set of important points related to the parish entrusted to their responsibility" were discussed during the meeting, emphasizing "harmony and brotherhood for the sake of the homeland."

    In addition to pleading for Allah to grant safety and stability for our beloved country and for love and understanding to rule among all of its citizens, CCCB called on all citizens to "work together to build a prosperous Iraq of peace and justice."

    According to the statement, CCCB also emphasizes the value of the Christian presence in Iraq and the positive coexistence of all Iraqi ethnic groups. We also express our respect for the diversity of cultures and religions and work together to create a cohesive and prosperous society. Finally, we emphasize the importance of accepting others for who they are, despite their differences and respecting their rights to freedom of religion and culture.

    The CCCB extends its gratitude to the Iraqi government for its efforts in defending the legal rights of ethnic and religious minorities and guaranteeing their safety.

    Additionally, it stated that the government's dedication to upholding diversity and advancing the ideals of citizenship and justice is a sign of optimism and hope for a brighter future. On behalf of the conferees in Iraq, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Iraqi government and state for their unwavering support, keen interest in the problems facing Christians in the country, management of the service file, and provision of those services to the public.

    The Council said that “We proudly affirm that Iraq has begun to recover and return to its proper track, and that Christians are rising again thanks to the efforts of the state and society.”  

     

    It also showed cooperation with the Bureau of Endowments for Christian, Yezidi, and Sabian Mandaean Religions and express their full support to the Head of the Bureau, represented by Rami Joseph Aghagan, in caring for the affairs of our Christian communities.

     


    CCCB emphasized the importance of understanding the different hierarchies in the hierarchy of different sects, that the role of the heads of the sects should be equal before the state, and that the autonomy of each of the 14 sects officially recognized in the Iraq be respected.  

    It emphasized the need for continuous cooperation with all government and civil agencies to promote the values of coexistence and tolerance, calling for the formation of joint committees to follow up the implementation of initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening national unity.
