The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that it has submitted a request to the International Court of Justice to join South Africa in the genocide lawsuit it filed against the Zionist entity.
The text of the request that Turkey will submit to the court is expected to support South Africa's proposal, and address how to interpret the relevant articles of the Genocide Convention, especially in the context of the massacres committed by the entity in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said: "Turkey's request was prepared in a very detailed manner based on Article 63 of the Statute of the Court."
Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Oncu Keçali stated in a post on the "X" platform that the case is "very important to ensure that the crimes committed by the entity do not remain unpunished."
Keçali added, "We remind everyone that the interim decisions issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ, which ordered the entity to stop its attacks on Gaza and open the Rafah border crossing to humanitarian aid, must be implemented as soon as possible."
He continued: "We call on the UN Security Council to do its part, while Turkey will continue to support the just cause of the Palestinians."
