The death toll from landslides caused by heavy rains that hit the Wayanad region in Kerala state, southern India, has risen to 358 dead, with hundreds injured and missing.
"The death toll from landslides in Kerala's Wayanad district has reached 358 as rescuers race against time and use deep-scan radars to search for survivors trapped under rubble and in collapsed homes," India Today wrote on Saturday.
"More than 200 people are still missing as private search and rescue companies and volunteers join the rescue operations, which have entered their fifth day and are being led by the Indian Army, Kerala Police and emergency services units," it added.
"The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains on Saturday and Sunday in Wayanad, with rains expected in the region until August 6.".
