Defense Minister Thabet Al-Abbasi confirmed today, Wednesday, that the Iraqi government will frame its relationship with the United States of America in accordance with the law and the constitution.
Al-Abbasi said during the second round of dialogue in a press statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that “The Iraqi government will frame its relationship with the United States of America in accordance with the Iraqi law and constitution,” pointing out that “Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammad Shia al-Sudani is keen to create sustainability between the Iraqi and American Ministries of Defense.
For his part, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that "the current dialogue between Iraq and the United States is based on the visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani to Washington."
He added, "The United States appreciates the sacrifices made by the Iraqi security forces."
