Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, today, welcomed several owners of private mills that have been producing flour since April.
The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received a number of owners of private mills that started producing zero flour since last April." At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister commended the mill owners for their contribution to securing this essential product locally, aiming for self-sufficiency and creating job opportunities for young people.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani directed the Ministry of Trade and other relevant ministries to purchase flour from Iraqi mills according to standard specifications and prices. He also instructed that all obstacles facing the mill owners be removed to ensure fair competition between local and imported products. Special decisions will be issued to protect their products if they cover half of the market's demand for flour.
The Prime Minister assured that all requests and issues raised by the mill owners would be presented at the next Council of Ministers session to make the necessary decisions, in line with the government's policy to facilitate the requirements for achieving food security and supporting national products and industries.
