CMC: The government has paid great attention to digital transformation

    Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Ali Al-Muayyad, confirmed today, Saturday, that Iraq is moving towards joining the global, technological and technical bandwagon, noting that the government has paid great attention to digital transformation. 

    Al-Muayyad said during his speech at the Digital Transformation Youth Forum attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "This event was accompanied by major logistical and technical preparations, including international, regional and national participation, which, if it indicates anything, indicates that Iraq is on the right path towards meeting the needs to keep pace with rapid developments and major scientific and global leaps, and responds with high flexibility and well-thought-out strategies towards joining the global, technological and technical bandwagon." 

    He added, "On this basis, this qualitative forum was held under the patronage of the Prime Minister, and this large number of societal and governmental elites in attendance came to give the right momentum to the comprehensive digital transformation process in our country. It is clear that the current government and all state institutions have paid great attention to digital transformation." 

    He continued, "The formation of specialized committees in this field, such as the Supreme Committee for Digital Transformation, headed by the Prime Minister, as well as the Supreme Committees for Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Electronic Payment, and the technical committees that branched out from that to implement the state's vision in this direction, are only indications of the government's interest in ending chaos and disorganization and moving towards the realm of sound planning and sound implementation based on advanced scientific, technological, and technical foundations." 

    He continued, "In the information technology sector, the Commission is making strides by regulating the work of Internet and information technology companies by implementing the items of the general budget (23-25) approved by the esteemed House of Representatives, which contained several items that indicate great interest in the technological and technical aspect, and it is an initiative and a motive to support the sector and develop the digital economy in the country." 

    He pointed out that "the Communications and Media Commission is working with diligent efforts to organize the work of the three sectors above through regional and international openness to global experiences through its participation and effective presence in various specialized events and conferences hosted by the United States of America, the European Union countries, and the leading Asian countries in these fields, such as Japan and China, in addition to consolidating its understandings with neighboring and regional countries and sister Arab countries in a way that contributes to advancing the digital transformation within Iraq and the region in general."
