"Trade Minister Atheer Daoud Al-Gheriri met with the Saudi ambassador and the head of the working group on the accession of Iraq to the World Trade Organization, Saqr Al-Muqbil, and in the presence of ambassadors of Arabic countries in the organization to discuss mobilizing Arab support for the file of Iraq's accession to the World Trade Organization," reads a statement from the Ministry of Trade that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained.
"They reviewed the progress made by the Iraq in meeting the requirements of accession and the challenges it faces in this path during the meeting," the statement continued.
"The importance of Arab support to strengthen the position of the Iraq and achieve its goals in joining the organization" was emphasized by Minister Al-Ghuriri during the meeting.
"The economic and commercial benefits that will accrue to Iraq and Arabic countries through this accession," the minister said concurrently.
The Arab ambassadors, for their part, emphasized "the importance of strengthening Arab cooperation in international organizations" and stated that they were "ready to support Iraq in its efforts."
