Mikati praises the Iraqi government's stances and support for Lebanon

    Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati praised, on Thursday, the positions of the Iraqi government and the support provided to Lebanon.

    The Federal Integrity Commission stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, met in the Lebanese capital Beirut with the Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in the presence of the head of the National Anti-Corruption Commission in the Lebanese Republic, Claude Karam, and the Regional Director for Combating Corruption and Promoting Integrity at the United Nations Development Program in the Arab States, Arkan Al-Sablani, and on behalf of the Iraqi delegation, the Director General of the Department of Relations with Non-Governmental Organizations, Moataz Al-Abbasi, and discussed with him the efforts to combat corruption in the two countries.".

    The statement added that "Judge Hanoun conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani," thanking "the various institutions in the Lebanese Republic for cooperating with the Federal Integrity Commission in the field of combating corruption, exchanging expertise, transferring experiences, and cooperating in the file of extraditing wanted persons and recovering smuggled assets.".

    For his part, Mikati praised "the positions of the Iraqi government and the support provided to Lebanon and the common positions of the two countries in international forums, and the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Federal Integrity Commission and the Lebanese Anti-Corruption Commission.".
