Two drug dealers were apprehended in Karbala and Basra, according to a Tuesday announcement from the Interior Ministry.
Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, the spokesman for the Interior Ministry and the Security Media Cell, stated in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "In provinces of Karbala and Basra, the General Directorate for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances was able to arrest two drug traffickers and another promoter, according to accurate information."
"The first accused, who works as a drug promoter, was seized in possession of a quantity of crystal meth, and the other two defendants were arrested in possession of one and a half kilograms of drugs," he continued. "The arrest process was carried out under the supervision of the directorate of drugs in Karbala and Basra."
He made note of the fact that "the defendants were arrested in compliance with the provisions of Article 28 of the Anti-Narcotics Law, and their investigative papers were presented to the investigative judges."
