The head of the Commission of Integrity, Judge Izzat Tawfiq Jafar, called upon all directorates and investigation bureaus affiliated to the commission to be most serious in providing the necessary requirements to make the year 2019 a “year of accountability” for those who caused delays of service and investment projects in Iraq.
In a statement by the Committee of Integrity, a copy of which received by the INA, Jafar said: “The year 2019 will witness the exposure of those who wasted public money, and left service and investment projects to erode in neglect in all Iraqi governorates, to fair justice” adding that “the commission teams have finished defining and listing those projects and submitted data and figures that show the nature of the projects, their funders, the percentage achieved and the reasons for the delays.
Jafar stressed also “the importance of reporting to the investigation bureau any delayed projects which are not dealt with by the commission through opening legal cases.” He drew attention to the importance of keeping best relations between the commission directorates and bureaus and the local governments by way of keeping every party within the limits of the tasks it addressed, without trespassing authority limits as defined by the laws.
The statement pointed out the importance of keeping active connections between the committee’s investigation bureaus and various social activities, in addition to preserving mutual trust since those parties represent a vitally important source of reports regarding corruption and the wasting of public money. Consequently, this source should enable the committee to double its efforts of detecting unlawful acts and be an effective deterrent to the corrupt.
