Abdul Muttalib Al-Alawi, the governor of Baghdad, declared today, Wednesday, that a special operations room has been established to carry out the population census in the capital.
During his chairmanship of the first population census meeting, which included the heads of education and health, presidents of universities, representatives from planning departments, security agencies, and other parties, as well as the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reporter, Al-Alawi made the following statement: "The general population census conducted in 1977 was comprehensive, as its preparation took over a year, meaning that "the Ministry of Planning sets plans for all aspects of life related to Iraqi society."
Iraq is currently conducting a population census, he continued, noting that "a supreme committee and an operations room were formed for the purpose of completing all the requirements and steps that prepare for conducting the census." He went on, "Returning to the population census in 1977, we will find detailed data, as the process of converting data into information took a long time at that time."
"The operations room is comprised of representatives from various private agencies and departments involved in the census," he emphasized, adding that "the operations room's mission is to implement the Supreme Committee's instructions in the governorate."
