PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani directed on Saturday, the reduction of official working hours.
The General Secretariat of the Cabinet said in a statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA, “Taking into account the conditions of high temperatures, especially peak times, and to reduce the burdens on citizens in general and employees in particular and rationalize the consumption of electrical energy, the Prime Minister directed the following:
1. The official time in all government institutions in the governorates, except for the capital, Baghdad, is at 07:00 am and the end of working hours is at 13:00.
2. Governors are empowered to suspend official working hours in all government institutions, including central departments not affiliated with the governorate operating in their governorates on days when temperatures reach 50C or higher.
3. Work continues in all government institutions in the capital, Baghdad, according to the timings mentioned in Cabinet Resolution 24213 of 2024, taking into account the following two amendments:
a. Providing the start time of official work by one hour according to the classification indicated in the aforementioned decision.
B. Reducing the number of official working hours by one hour at the end of the working day, so the end of working time will be two hours earlier than the time in effect before this directive (one hour due to the advance, and an additional hour due to the reduction).
4. Official working hours will be by the times mentioned in this directive, starting from Sunday 23rd June 2024 until Thursday 29th August 2024, then the times in effect before the issuance of this directive will be resumed.
5. The competent minister has the right to extend work outside the timings mentioned in this directive in cases of necessity and by the law.
