The Minister of Health, Salih Al-Hasnawi, confirmed on Saturday, that “no human casualties were recorded as a result of the fire at the Shaab General Hospital.
“An unfortunate accident struck the Shaab General Hospital after a fire broke out in two rooms there. After reviewing the hospital, it became clear that the fire affected only two rooms, and there were material losses, but the hospital is intact and there were no human casualties," said Al-Hasnawi in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
He added, "The company responsible for the hospital will rehabilitate the damaged parts of the hospital, and they will be restored to what they were."
In turn, the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, explained that "the speedy arrival of civil defense teams to the fire scene contributed to reducing the extent of losses."
