"Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari chaired an expanded security meeting, at the headquarters of the ministry's agency for police affairs, in the presence of agents, security leaders, and police commanders in Baghdad and the provinces through closed-circuit television," reads a statement from the Ministry of Interior that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained.
The minister directed that "the fight against drugs and psychotropic substances is one of the priorities of work for all in conjunction with intensifying the effort in combating criminal offences and developing proactive plans," emphasizing that "there should be tireless work to enhance security and stability through the implementation of security plans prepared by the Ministry of Interior for all leaders."
The statement made note of the following: "The minister was briefed on the most important tasks carried out by the directorates of rescue services police, civil defense, and traffic and the service provided by these agencies to the honorable citizens. He also listened to a detailed explanation of the rates of security achievements achieved through the implementation of arrest warrants and the seizure of unlicensed weapons."
