Spokesman of the Iraqi Presidency, Luqman al-Feili, announced on Sunday, that President Barham Salih had legally given up his British nationality as a commitment to the Iraqi constitution.
Al-Feili said in a statement, which INA received a copy of, that all legal procedures for the his giving up the British nationality were accomplished, adding that Mr. Salih expressed his deep thanks for the United Kingdom for giving him its nationality during the past period when he was opponent for the former regime and to give it is a commitment with the Iraqi constitution”.
