Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency-INA that “Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi, launched the Academic Bridge Program initiative between Iraq and the United Kingdom during the Iraqi-British Universities Forum (Iraq-Uk Higher Education Dialogue) held in London. He also delivered an official copy of the program to the British Council in the British capital, London."
The statement read “In his review, Al-Aboudi stated that "the possibilities for cooperation between the universities of the two countries are wide and diverse, ranging from developing education programs, especially regarding medical and engineering fields, capacity building and keeping pace with global academic trends, to joint research initiatives and academic exchange.”
It further said that "Al-Aboudi proposed the creation of a bilateral working group comprising representatives from the academic and governmental sectors in both countries to promote knowledge exchange and guarantee the successful execution of cooperative initiatives. He also called for the development of a framework for cooperation based on the principles of equality, solidarity, and sustainability."
As per the Ministry’s statement, Al-Aboudi called for this understanding to be a starting point towards positive partnerships between universities that pave the way for excellence and global academic cooperation.
“Higher Education Minister highlighted that the forum's activities and dialogues were attended by a number of presidents of Iraqi public and private universities and their British counterparts, and a number of advisors, experts, general directors and cultural advisors,” the statement noted.
For their part, the participants reviewed, according to the statement, their perceptions in the light of understanding considering the proposed initiative launched by His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi.
