Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met today, Thursday, with tribal sheikhs and elders of Babil Governorate.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani met with tribal sheikhs and notables of Babil Governorate, as part of his visit to the governorate.”
Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met with tribal sheikhs and elders from Babil province this Thursday evening, following his arrival in the region earlier in the day. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the tribal community's role in enhancing security and stability in the province and their support in assisting security forces and the local government's efforts to execute service projects, particularly sewerage projects that may cause disruptions traffic flow.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of preparing a suitable environment for economic development, especially since the province has agricultural and development potential deeply embedded in its economic history.
The Prime Minister noted that this visit would ensure follow-up on all identified issues in the province, which faces numerous challenges. He stated that the government would prioritize delivering services to the citizens of Babil, who have waited long and will not be satisfied with excuses.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani affirmed the need for more infrastructure projects in Babil. He highlighted several initiatives set in place over the past months, including the ongoing efforts with Hilla Grand Sewerage project, which had been stalled for years. The project resumed in May 2023, with the second phase and other infrastructure projects in Qasim, Kifl, and Hashimiya, including road and hospital projects, now underway.
