President of the Federal Court: We are keen to build relations with the Moroccan Constitutional Court

     The President of the Federal Supreme Court, Jassim Mohammed Abboud, confirmed on Wednesday, the court's keenness to build relations with the Moroccan Constitutional Court.

    The Court stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that" The President of the Federal Supreme Court, Jassim Mohammed Abboud received the Chargé d’Affaires at the embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Iraq  Abdul-Kareem Bin Salam at the headquarters of the Federal Supreme Court in Baghdad”.

    The statement added that "during the meeting, they stressed the court's keenness to establish bilateral relations with the international constitutional courts to exchange constitutional experiences in the constitutional field and develop it and benefit from the accumulated experiences of the constitutional courts, which contributes to the proper democratic construction and the preservation of public and private rights and freedoms, and during the meeting also reviewed the progress of bilateral relations between Iraq and the kingdom of Morocco and ways to develop them in the interests of the two brotherly countries”.
     
    The Court  President  explained "the role of the constitutional courts and councils in the countries of the world in the correct application of the Constitution to ensure the establishment of the foundations of democracy and the preservation of national unity to develop the general frameworks for building states on humanitarian and moral bases in light of international charters and Universal declarations aimed at spreading action and lifting injustice.


    He added that" the Republic of Iraq has come a long way in the Democratic field after it was under the control of a repressive Baathist individual regime for more than thirty years in which human rights, freedoms and values were absent, Iraq provided a large number of martyrs in order to reach a just democratic government that takes into account all human aspects ", pointing out that "Iraq has a great history and great historical relations with the kingdom of Morocco and the Federal Supreme Court in Iraq is keen to build relations with the Moroccan Constitutional Court”.

    For his part, the Chargé d’Affaires  of the embassy of the kingdom of Morocco explained that "he will work to open new cooperation between the two countries at various levels, especially in the field of constitutional justice" , praising the "independence of the Iraqi judiciary and the role of the Federal Supreme Court in consolidating constitutional and democratic principles to ensure the construction of a parliamentary system based on the rule of law”.
     
    He stressed that “he is following the work of the Federal Supreme Court and its role in finding constitutional solutions to many of the problems that Iraq has gone through".
