Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani Meets US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights

    Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met with Uzra Zeya, US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights. During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq's commitment to enhancing its democratic system and upholding the achievements made in human rights and transitional justice as outlined in the constitution.
     
    The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Prime Minister emphasized the grave human rights violations occurring in Gaza, describing them as potentially genocidal acts predominantly affecting women and children, according to international reports. He called for intensified international efforts to stop the ongoing conflict affecting the Palestinian people”.
     
    “ Zeya conveyed greetings from President Biden and Secretary Blinken, acknowledging Iraq's distinguished role in the region as a democratic state making progress in human rights, combating human trafficking, and contributing to regional peace. She commended the Iraqi government's efforts in establishing the Higher Council for Youth and the Higher Council for Women” the statement added .
