prison sentences against two convicts in Baghdad and Anbar, SJC says

    The Karkh Criminal Court issued on Tuesday, a ten-year prison sentence against a convict for the crime of impersonating an employee in the offices of the Prime Minister and the Republic.

    The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the convict, in addition to impersonating an employee in the offices of the Prime Minister and the Republic, also impersonated an officer with the rank of major general in the Ministry of Defense.”
     
    The statement added, "The ruling was issued based on the provisions of Resolution 160 of 1983, Paragraph One/1 thereof."
     
    The statement indicated that "the Anbar Criminal Court issued a seven-year prison sentence against one of the arrested persons who forged MasterCard cards," noting that "the arrested person, along with other defendants, issued Qi Cards for the injured and martyrs and transferred their salaries using forged documents."

    It continued, "The ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article 310 of the Amended Penal Code No. 111 of 1969."
