Al-Sudani Receives the Vatican Ambassador to Iraq

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani expressed, today, Thursday, his appreciation for the efforts of Vatican Ambassador Mr. Mitja Leskovar during his period of work in Iraq.

The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Prime Minister welcomed the Apostolic Nuncio to Iraq, Mr. Mitja Leskovar. During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Sudani expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by Mr. Leskovar during his tenure in Iraq, as well as the humanitarian efforts and positions of His Holiness Pope Francis in supporting the rights of peoples, especially during the challenging times faced by the Iraqi people in their fight against terrorism and their ability to preserve national diversity and brotherhood.

For his part, the Apostolic Nuncio appreciated the efforts of the Iraqi government in supporting regional and international stability and peace, and affirmed the deep historical relations between Iraq and the Holy See.
