Syrian Minister of Resources praises Iraq's humanitarian support for his country and calls for cooperation in the water file

    Syrian Minister of Water Resources Hussein Makhlouf reviewed today, Sunday, the challenges facing his country in the water sector, which it shares with other countries, especially Iraq, while praising Baghdad’s supportive positions in the humanitarian file, calling for regional cooperation to confront the challenge of water scarcity.
     
     
    Makhlouf said in his speech during the Fourth Baghdad Water Conference, which was attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “I am pleased to participate in the Fourth Baghdad Water Conference, and I extend my thanks for the generous invitation and good hosting, and I congratulate our brothers in brotherly Iraq for their efforts in placing the Baghdad Water Conference on the map of international conferences that have an important impact in mobilizing efforts, cooperation, and awareness of water issues.” 
    He added, "We are facing many important challenges and major threats, such as rising demand for water, pollution, and climate change, the manifestations of which have begun to cast a shadow on the water issue in recent years in the region in general and in Syria and Iraq in particular." 
     
    He added, "I cannot fail to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to our brothers in Iraq for the sincere generosity that was demonstrated by all forms of relief and humanitarian support to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by the earthquake, which had the greatest impact on the souls of all Syrians who felt the warmth of true brotherhood, those who felt the warmth of true brotherhood, which is the natural and familiar thing among brothers in Iraq and Syria, and thanks go to all the brotherly and friendly countries that contributed to helping our country in this ordeal.”
