The Deputy Prime Minister And Minister Of Planning Muhammad Tamim stressed, on Sunday, the need to agree on the development of joint water policies.
The Minister Of Planning said during the fourth Baghdad International Water Conference, attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA ), that "the holding of the fourth conference in Baghdad represents a great opportunity to address challenges" ,indicating that "Iraq needs rational water management in accordance with international law”.
"We are making extraordinary efforts to address the water issue in joint coordination with upstream countries", noting that "the water situation is suffering from a clear decline as it has caused desertification in the country" he added .
The Minister of Planning explained that" there is a significant waste in the use of water by citizens ", pointing out that"upstream countries should take into account the actual need for water for downstream countries in accordance with international law”.
