The Ministry of Oil announced, today, Thursday, the completion of the project to operate the Azmara unit at the Basra Refinery.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Refining Affairs, Hamid Younis, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The sincere efforts of the Southern Refineries Company were able to complete and operate the Azmara unit in the Basra Refinery, with a capacity of one million and 300 thousand liters per day.”.
He pointed out, "This comes within the ministry's plans to take advantage of the production capacities available through (Azmara) unit projects that aim to increase and improve fuel, including gasoline.".
He continued, "The second achievement that was achieved is the operation of the Al-Azmra unit in the Central Refineries Company in Doura, which contributes to maximizing and improving storage and adding production capacity at a rate of (750) thousand liters per day, in addition to dispensing with the import of high-octane gasoline in the amount of one million and 500 thousand liters per day.".
He stressed, "The government is keen to increase refining energy production rates and improve production for national refineries in order to achieve self-sufficiency and gradually shift to exporting to global markets."
