The Federal Commission of integrity (FCOI) announced, on Wednesday, the decision issuance of severe imprisonment sentence to the Iraqi cement company’s former director general .
A statement issued by the Commission’s Government Media and Communications Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the central anti-corruption criminal court issued a custodial severe imprisonment sentence for a period of three years and a financial penalty against the Iraqi general cement company’s former general director In the background of his arrest for the witnessed crime while committing bribery, receiving an amount of (200) thousand dollars; in exchange for issuing a decision from the Iraqi general Cement Company’s Directors’ board includes approval to refer the project of development, rehabilitation and operation of the Badush cement plant to al-mushtaki company”.
In the same context, the commission confirmed according to the statement that "the same court issued a custodial sentence of severe imprisonment for two years and a financial penalty of ten million dinars against the accused who mediated in the case of receiving (200) two hundred thousand dollars in exchange for the referral of a rehabilitation and development project and the operation of one of the laboratories in Nineveh Governorate".
The statement continued " the court, after reviewing the evidence obtained and the evidences in the two cases, and the investigative papers, reached the premises of the defendants, and decided to convict them, and sentenced the first in person to severe imprisonment for three years and a financial penalty, based on the provisions of resolution (160 of 1983), and the second to severe imprisonment for two years, based on the provisions of Article (310) of the Penal Code”.
FCOI announced on the 18th of last January that it was able to trap the Iraqi general Cement Company’s general director and the director of a private company; in the background of a case of receiving (200,000) dollars out of the amount of (5000,000) dollars, in exchange for referring a rehabilitation, development and operation project of one of the laboratories in Nineveh Governorate.
