The head of the World Health Organization - WHO mission in Iraq, Georges Alfred Ki-Zerbo, confirmed on Tuesday, that the measles vaccine used by the Iraqi Ministry of Health during its campaign to vaccinate schoolchildren is safe and approved by the WHO.
"WHO mission in Iraq supports the national plan of the health system adopted by the Ministry of Health, through the adoption of vaccines to build a healthy society," said Ki-Zerbo in an exclusive statement to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
He pointed out that "WHO, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and other partners, is implementing a vaccination campaign in schools against measles," warning that "the campaign comes against the backdrop of an increase in the number of people infected with measles."
Ki-Zerbo confirmed that “the vaccine that was used in the vaccination process is safe and approved by WHO,” calling on “parents to vaccinate their children to spare them complications from measles, which affects hearing as well as its future effects.”
