FCOI: execution of an arrest warrant against an official of Wasit governorate court and other accused

    The Federal Commission of Integrity, FCOI  announced ,on Monday, the execution of an arrest warrant issued against the director of the financial resources department and collection officers at Wasit governorate court for collecting funds in violation of the law, while pointing out that the total amounts collected since 2020 is about 4 billion dinars.

    A statement issued by the Commission’s Government Media and Communications Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that " according to a judicial memorandum, the commission's Investigation Office in Wasit formed two working teams, one of which moved to the collection point located in the control of Maysan/ Kut, and the other to the Department of maximizing financial resources in the provincial court , to investigate information received by the office that the director of the department and a number of employees cut off access to cars carrying gravel and sand in the checkpoint contrary to the law".

    The statement added that" the investigation operations carried out by the two teams reached the information veracity "pointing out that "the accusers issued a receipts (accounting/ 38) belonging to Wasit governorate office, contrary to the law on maximizing local resources No. 1 of 2019".

    The statement pointed out that "the total amounts collected since 2020 is about 4 billion dinars".
     
    " The team was able to execute the judicial arrest warrant issued against the defendants in accordance with the provisions of Article (339) of the Penal Code, and seized the priorities, receipts and financial amounts in their possession for the collection of two days (13 and 14) of this month " ,noting that "organizing a formal report, and presenting it with the defendants to the competent investigative judge to take appropriate legal measures against the defendants” the statement added.


    The statement  explained that " article (339) of the Iraqi Penal Code states that "every employee or assigned to a public service and every committed to revenues, wages, or the like, requesting, taking or ordering the collection of what is not due or more than due, is punishable by imprisonment for a period not exceeding 7 years . The refund of the amounts collected without the right shall be governed".
