MOWR Sign with UNDP the Human Resilience and Biodiversity Project document

    The Ministry of Water Resources and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) signed today, Thursday, a document for the Human Resilience and Biodiversity Project.

    A statement by the Ministry of Water Resources, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, “Today, a signing ceremony took place today for the human resilience and biological diversity project document in the marshes of Mesopotamia between the Ministry of Water Resources, represented by Minister Aoun Dhiyab Abdullah, and the representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Iraq, Oki Lootsma.”.

    The statement added, "The project aims to contribute to mitigating climate change, reducing the effects of water scarcity, building the capacity of local communities to confront the effects of climate change, addressing the root causes of the deterioration of biodiversity, and restoring wildlife by empowering women while achieving common benefits through reducing poverty and consolidating social cohesion .".

    He pointed out that "the signing ceremony was attended by the Ministry's technical advisor, Alaa El-Din Taher Al-Tamimi, and a number of specialists and stakeholders from both sides."
