Dhi Qar Governorate Council’s chairman, Abdul Baqi al-Omari, directed the formation of a joint committee to inventory schools located on the main roads in Dhi Qar governorate.
Al-Omari said in statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA )" We extend our condolences to the government of Basra and the victim students’ families of the terrible accident in Hartha, which led to the death and injury of 15 students".
Al-Omari stressed that "the competent departments of Education, municipality and traffic in the governorate have been instructed to form a joint committee among them for the purpose of inventory of schools located on the main roads in the governorate, in order to take the necessary precautions represented by the placement of industrial bumps to preserve the safety of pupils and students of our governorate’s Sons ".
He added that "the governorate council will follow up the situation with the competent departments in order to accomplish what they will be assigned, and submit a detailed report of the measures taken to the presidency of the council ".
