The Minister of Electricity officially opens the link between Iraq and Jordan

    The Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, opened on Saturday, the electrical connection line between Iraq and Jordan, while revealing the appointment of opening the connection with the Gulf.
    A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “the Minister of Electricity inaugurated from Al-Rutba District, far west of Anbar, the electrical interconnection line with Jordan in its first phase, in the presence of the Governor of Anbar, Muhammad Nouri, and Representative Haibat Al-Halbousi, Chairman of the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee.”

    The Minister of Electricity confirmed that “the electrical interconnection project extends over three phases, and its capacity is scheduled to reach 500 megawatts in its third phase with a voltage of (400 kV) after activating the tripartite interconnection between (Iraq - Jordan - Egypt), pointing out that “it will be secured Energy needs for large parts of Anbar Governorate.”
     
    It continued, "The length of the line is more than 330 kilometers within Iraqi territory, and 6 kilometers within Jordanian territory 281 towers were erected along the line by the owners of the Energy Transmission Lines Company in the central region, and new stations and transformers were installed in multiple places along the path of the electric line of the infrastructure, will end, and from now on they will enjoy stable and sustainable electricity."

    The minister explained that "this achievement reflects the interest of the government headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani in diversifying energy sources and providing the necessary allocations to rehabilitate and develop the electrical system through contracts with reputable international companies, revealing that the end of this year 2024 will witness another achievement at the level of electrical connection with... The Gulf States announced the opening of the Basra-Kuwait line with a capacity of 500 megawatts in the first phase and 2000 megawatts in the second phase.
     
    It stated: "We are working at the same pace with the Ministry of Oil to develop our electrical system and invest in national gas in operating electricity stations instead of imported gas, through strategic projects that will see the light during the next few years."
