Iraqi calls on Turkey for mutual economic cooperation

    INA - BAGHDAD

    Iraq's Ambassador to Turkey, Majid Al-Lajmawi, called on Tuesday for the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries.

    "Al-Lajmawi received several Turkish businessmen to discuss ways to expand economic partnership and cooperation in various fields," according to a statement by the media office of the Iraqi Embassy in Ankara received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. 

    The ambassador emphasized the importance of "enhancing cooperation between the two countries, appreciating Turkey's serious engagement with the Development Road," pointing out that "the government's policy in developing economic relations, coupled with Iraq's human and natural resources, qualifies it to be a point of contact and a development and partnership zone for all neighboring countries."

    Al-Lajmawi called for "holding meetings with businessmen reflecting the desire of both countries to develop relations on various levels and the facilitations provided by the Iraqi government to improve the business environment and investment in Iraq," praising "Turkish companies for their ability to achieve development and their contributions to the reconstruction of infrastructure in Iraq and the completion of the Development Road project."

    In turn, "Turkish businessmen expressed their gratitude for the meeting and the Iraqi government's keenness to cooperate with Turkish companies," affirming their readiness to work in Iraq and establish strategic partnerships with businessmen and the private sector, which has become a great ground for investment."
