The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the President of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission, Naeem Al-Aboudi, invited on Tuesday Hungarian students to consider studying at Iraqi universities via the "Study in Iraq" initiative.
Al-Aboudi met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto during their participation in the 13th International Atomic Energy Forum (Atomexpo) held in the Russian city of Sochi, according to a statement from the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement highlighted that both parties welcomed the prospect of "enhanced cooperation in scientific and academic domains, culminating in an agreement to renew the bilateral cooperation agreement."
Emphasizing the importance of fostering exchanges in scientific and cultural realms, they underscored the significance of enabling universities in both nations to offer academic programs of shared interest.
Al-Aboudi emphasized the importance of augmenting scholarship opportunities for Iraqi students, particularly in fields such as nuclear energy engineering, nuclear physics, and radiation studies. Concurrently, he urged Hungarian students to explore educational opportunities in Iraqi universities as part of the "Study in Iraq" program.
The minister outlined Iraq's strategic vision, focusing on the development of zero-power nuclear reactors, clean energy infrastructure, and the establishment of specialized research environments, all in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency - IAEA.
