The Ministry of Transport revealed ,on Sunday, a plan to restart the grounded aircraft and activate the air route with Europe.
Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) " Iraqi Airways has concluded an agreement with (IATA) to solve the problems on Airlines work which recorded by (IASA), that includes three stages aimed providing international safety requirements.
Al-Saadawi added that" the ministry resorted to renting a plane with a foreign crew, according to the (ACMI) system to activate the European line, and regular flights ",noting that"the company worked to conclude an agreement with an authorized company, holding an operating certificate (AOC), which allows flying our aircraft and operating our crew from Iraq to Europe”.
“Regarding the discontinued aircraft, the company has so far returned 7 aircraft to service, and we aim to operate at least 10 aircraft before the end of this year", the transport minister confirmed.
He pointed out that "Iraqi Airways contracted with reputable international companies to repair 20 engines, and return them to Iraq to be installed on the parked aircraft by the Airways staff ".
