The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency FIIA reported on Sunday that during raids on several oil-smuggling operations, it had seized dozens of trucks and tons of oil in addition to making multiple arrests.
An announcement from the Iraqi Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency stated, "These qualitative operations conducted by the Intelligence Agency over the past 15 days resulted in the seizure of 34 vehicles, with their drivers, used for trading and smuggling oil and its derivatives, in addition to the apprehension of four oil sites and a group of vehicles at the sites used for smuggling these derivatives within several provinces."
The statement also stated that "thousands of tonnes" of oil and its derivatives had been confiscated.
The Agency further stated that individuals detained "confessed openly" to the smuggling and urged the public to report smuggling activities by calling a hotline.
