FIIA announces the confiscation of 55 thousand liters of oil and its derivatives within seven days

Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency FIIA announced on Sunday, the confiscation of almost 55 thousand liters of oil and its derivatives within seven days.

FIIA said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "The detachments of the intelligence agency specialized in combating organized crime, received accurate information about a group of smugglers of oil derivatives in more than one province, and in light of the information, more than one intelligence and technical task force was formed accompanied by a special force to pursue smugglers and arrest them in order to reduce damage to the national economy".

The Agency added that "the qualitative operations initiated by the intelligence agency within seven days resulted in the confiscation of (approximately 55 thousand liters) of oil and its derivatives and the seizure of (16) wheels with which were used for trading and smuggling oil and its derivatives, in addition to the seizure of 5 sites, and the arrest of 23 violators and traders in oil and its derivatives in Baghdad and the provinces".

FIIA also added that "the defendants' statements were recorded and they openly admitted to smuggling oil and its derivatives, and they were referred to the investigative authorities in preparation for their appearance before the judiciary".
