Al-Mandalawi sends a call for a candidate for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives

    Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, today, Saturday, called on the parties concerned to expedite the selection of a candidate for the position of Speaker of the House.

    The media office of the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Al-Mandalawi participated in the dialogue session held by the (Baghdad) Office for the political, social and union elites in the presence of the head of the Al-Hikma Movement, Mr. Ammar Al-Hakim, and a number of political, governmental and social leaders.”.

    During his interventions, and in response to what was proposed by the participants in the session, Al-Mandalawi called on the political parties and alliances “concerned” with nominating a speaker for the House of Representatives to expedite agreement on a candidate for the position, noting “the importance of this in completing the Presidency of the House and legislating laws that meet the needs and ambitions of the citizen during the current legislative semester.”.

    The Acting Speaker of the Council stressed according to the statement “the necessity of maintaining and strengthening direct and effective coordination mechanisms between the legislative and executive authorities, and its positive impact on the speed of legislation of laws, revitalizing the oversight performance of representatives, and supporting the implementation of the provisions of the government program.”.

    Al-Mandalawi called according to the statement "the importance of completing the formation of local councils and their presidencies and deciding to elect new governors for the remaining governorates, so that all of this is reflected in the lives of citizens and the management of public affairs of the cities."
