The Iraqi National Security Service announced today, Friday, the overthrow of a network involved in counterfeiting gold bullion and foreign currency south of Salah al-Din.
A statement by the National Security, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: “Based on intelligence information received by the National Security Service in southern Saladin, it confirmed the existence of a network that trades in counterfeit gold bullion and counterfeit foreign currency, and after obtaining judicial approvals and coordination with the Saladin Security Directorate, the whereabouts of the network individuals were determined, and their follow-up led to the arrest of (4) those involved and the seizure of (6 kg) of counterfeit gold, bullion of fake gold, and forged sums of money.”
According to the statement, "The defendants and the seized items were referred to the competent legal authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law."
