Nizar Al-Khairallah, the Republic of Iraq's ambassador to the US, spoke about the actions taken against Iraqi banks and how to get US energy companies to invest in the Iraqi market.
"Ambassador Nizar Al-Khairallah met with the Undersecretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson to discuss the actions that have been taken against Iraqi banks and their effects on the growth of the banking sector and government economic reforms," the Iraqi embassy in Washington stated in a post on X that was later picked up by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The ambassador emphasized that "the focus was on attracting American energy companies to invest in the Iraqi market and preserve the burned gas." The embassy went on, "Ambassador Al-Khairallah also met with the Geoffrey R. Pyatt assistant secretary for energy resources, and exchanged views on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States."
