The Republic President receives the Head of Federal Board of Supreme Audit

    President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed, on Monday the importance of strengthening financial control efforts to reduce spending waste.

    The media office of the Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that " the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today at the Baghdad Palace, the head of Federal Board of Supreme Audit - FBSA Ammar Subhi Khalaf" ,indicating that "during the meeting they discussed the topics of the general budget, the development of the Iraqi economy and improving state revenues to achieve people welfare”.

    The Republic President stressed "the importance of strengthening surveillance efforts in various government action in order to contribute to the preservation of public funds and support the overall development process", stating " the need to eliminate unemployment through the factories operation and to stimulate and encourage the private sector work to carry out its responsibilities alongside the government sector ", according to the statement.

    Rashid stressed "the importance of activating cooperation and adopting joint work between the oversight agencies and State department to detect financial irregularities, and adhering to the observations contained in the report of the Financial Supervisory Office to consolidate the principles of integrity and reduce waste in expenditure, and invest properly abandoned buildings after restoration and rehabilitation", stating that "fighting corruption is just as important as establishing security and stability".

    The Republic President  commended "the important role played by the Office as a sober and coherent institution with the expertise of its employees, their concern for public funds and their professional performance".

    In turn, the head of Federal Board of Supreme Audit provided a detailed explanation to the President of the Republic of the mechanisms for the functioning of the Office and coordination with the executive and legislative authorities in the area of follow-up to annual reports in order to preserve public funds and reduce and eliminate corruption ".

    The head of Federal Board of Supreme Audit noted that "the volume of expenditure is rising and this requires a redoubling of effort”, stressing that “Board of Supreme Audit is working on the inventory of state real estate and the establishment of a detailed database ".
